| | Shopping in Siem Reap is blossoming like wild flowers after a desert rain storm. New boutiques open daily and the old standbys like the Psar Chas (Old Market), are loving the strong influx of tourists and expats. | |

| Angkor Temple Rubbings Temple bas-relief rubbings can be found anywhere, in town, in Psar Chas or from vendors throughout the temples. They are not really temple rubbings as such but are made from molding moistened heavy paper over reproduced Angkorian carvings. Nonetheless, they are light, easily transportable and uniquely Cambodian.
Good reproductions of temple statuary are easily found in Siem Reap, but a good place to start at is Artisans D’Angkor. It sells pretty high-quality reproduction carvings as well as exquisite handloomed silk and trains poor young Cambodians in these heritage arts. | | | Original Cambodian Art A new generation of Cambodian artists has cropped up and their original works of art can be found in various galleries downtown. Check out the Arts Lounge at the Hotel de La Paix or the Arthouse Gallery in the Warehouse. McDermott Gallery is a cool, upscale spot to buy fine art photography in limited editions, reproductions, posters and cards. Find them at the original store at the FCC and the second gallery which also features other international photographers, at The Passage between Pub Street and Psar Chas.
The new Angkor Museum has a retail Mall which houses boutiques selling books, jewelry, silk, arts and crafts as well as cafes and restaurants. There is also a Museum shop which sells a variety of souvenirs, postcards and some reproductions. | | | MarketsDescribed in full elsewhere, Psar Chas and the Angkor Night Market can just about fulfill all shopping needs for momentos, curios, silverwork, carvings, T-shirts, silk accessories and more – more than you could possibly want. | | | Jewelry Cambodia is well known for its rubies and sapphires. For one stop shopping, there are two floors of shops at the Angkor Shopping Center selling a wide selection of jewelry, gems and gold. They will handle custom orders as well. | |
